Abstract
The 1988 George G. Snivel Memory lecture discusses two topics: First, the historical development of the centripetal theory of brain injury mechanisms within the context of injury research, and secondly the efforts since 1980 to develop a mechanisms for long term support of injury research in the U.S.A. and abroad.
