Abstract

The way in which aircraft accidents are investigated in the United Kingdom, is described. The rationale behind each step taken is illustrated by reference to an analysis of a series of accidents. From the results given it can be seen that there is still greater need for improved passenger and aircrew protection. Seats and harnesses are in many cases inadequate.
