Abstract

More than 50% of road accidents are due to alcohol in Portugal. Yet, there is no legislation to authorize the evaluation of alcohol by breathalyser test, blood or urine tests, neither are there official values fixed by law. The value of 0,5 G/L was recommended temporarily, but if the road accidents still continue at their present rate. The value should be zero. The use of drugs is also discussed.
