The province of Zuid-Holland has made its provincial traffic and transportation model suitable for use in the non-urban regions of the province. An important part of the calibration process of any model is formed by the pathbuilding on the road network. Application of the all-or-nothing assignment technique proved not satisfactory in comparison to the standards set by the province. Therefore a multiple-routing technique in the calibration process is used. The results of this routing technique are such, that both the predictive as well as the explanatory value of the model have increased, without doing concessions to the other prior conditions of the model.
