Abstract

MEGRIN is a group of 19 European National Mapping Agencies (NMAs) which aims to bring a European dimension into NMAs activities. One of MEGRIN's main aims is to meet the increasing demand for pan-European data by improving international users access to national datasets. The fundamental aim is to make better use of the existing national investments. After completing the first truly European administrative boundary dataset (SABE), MEGRIN is studying the market for 1:250,000 scale datasets by developing PETIT. This aims to provide more topographic themes to meet the increasing user need for European base geographic information for such purposes as marketing, logistics, and routing.
