Abstract

These roadside surveys were conducted during May and June and consisted of short interviews on high volume roads. An observer as well as an interviewer collected data on age, sex, licence type, transmission of test vehicle, seating position, seat belt usage, vehicle ownership, purpose of journey, transmission of vehicle, use of "L" and "P" plates, vehicle make and registration. The results are presented as percentages of total distance travelled by sub groups of the driving population.
