Abstract

GNSS appears as the most flexible and cost-efficient technology for the implementation of large ETC systems both for urban and roads networks. However, due to its nature, GNSS-based ETC still has some constraints to overcome; for instance, in the Toll Collect system, additional on-board sensorsand side infrastructure are implemented leading to a complex and expensive system. The use of a system that ensures position integrity provides an efficient solution further allowing guaranteeing the ETC performance in particular the correctness of the charging. This paper describes the methodology to analyse different ETC implementations ensuring that user requirements are satisfied. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
