A method of bus operations costing developed by NBC.

Abstract

A method of costing in use in several National Bus Company (NBC) subsidiaries is described. Costs are categorised into those variable in short, medium and long term, and each is assumed to vary with one of three units of production: bus hours, miles or the peak number of buses required. The way in which this categorization is achieved is described, and examples are given.
