Abstract

At the highway engineering department of Gdansk Technical University, behavioural techniques in the safety research have been undertaken. One of them is in-car observation of drivers' behaviour - manoeuvres, braking, steering, speed, pulse rate - and road- traffic conditions. Behavioural data have been used in close connection with the accident data in order to estimate the accident risk caused by geometry and environment features. The paper also describes a data collection system.
