Abstract

Batty and Lee are just two voices "pro and con" new methods (large- scale models). This paper aims at a sober, less polemical discussion. A framework for the utilization of methodical knowledge is sketched and three examples of research into the use of methods in planning practice are presented. Both could yield information to be incorporated in "manuals" for regional and urban plan- making.
