Abstract

Throughout the next few years, a number of automobile manufacturers will be introducing programmable electronic displays for the driver's use in performing radio, climate control, trip information, and possibly navigation functions. Because interaction with the electronic display may affect the driver's fundamental driving performance, studies were conducted to assess the ability of drivers to perform both the driving task and the display related task with four different display configurations.
