Abstract

This paper reports the work of research projects in Europe to investigate methods of evaluating driver assistance systems. The GADGET project assessed the effects of in-vehicle safety devices on traffic safety. The GEM project aimed to survey, review and validate available evaluation methods to assess the effects of in-vehicle driver support systems on driver behaviour. The paper also describes some related research recently performed in Germany. For the covering abstract see ITRD E113725 (C 22328 CD-ROM).
