Abstract

This implementation of the Groningen Traffic Management Scheme has caused a considerable reduction of traffic intensities in the city center and on radial roads. On the other hand there has been an increase in traffic on the Diepenring, the ring road immediately around the city center. Noise levels near houses in the city center went down by an average of 3 dB (A), owing to the TSM-scheme; changes vary from + 1 to -12,5 d (B)A. Residents and visitors sound, vibrations and air pollution has decreased considerably.
