Abstract

In this brochure attention is paid to the relationship between environment and traffic. In order to maintain the quality of the environment, the Dutch National Government developed a strategy a few years ago, of which the main purposes concern the reduction of the mobility by the use of the car, and the use of cleaner, quieter and more economical vehicle motors. The greatest effects on the decrease of the use of the car are to be expected from measures of the national government in the financial field. The importance of the cooperation between municipalities, provinces and the national government to realize the goals of the above mentioned strategy is pointed out.
