Abstract
This paper deals with the introduction of electric automobiles and other environmentally "sound" transport systems. To assess their contribution to objectives of environmental protection, mobility and economy, a frame of reference is needed. The outline of such a frame of reference and a number of derived criteria on which these transport systems should be compared are described.
