Abstract

This paper describes a high speed, networkable data link operating in the63 to 64 GHz frequency band to support both roadside-to-vehicle and inter-vehicle communications. A summary of the design of the system and some results of a range of demonstrations in a road environment are presented, together with examples of applications. The data link utilizes novel antennadesigns tailored to meet the required communication coverage area, as well as a bespoke GaAs MMIC chip set. To ease the initial design process, an existing MAC and modem combination has been used; comments are made on thebenefits of this choice. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
