Abstract

From different studies is shown that vehicle ownership influences the transport mode. It is appropriate to decrease the necessity of vehicle ownership to prevent a further growth. Each growth of mobility increases the negative effects of traffic. If this growth is unavoidable the increases of negative effects can be compensated or decreased by a change in nowadays modal split in favour of walking, public transport or cycling. The tendency to increase the distances between home and work has a double detrimental working.
