Abstract

An interlaboratory test was initiated in 1990 by the RILEM 101BAT Technical Committee on Bituminous materials with the purpose to promote and develop mix design methodologies and associated significant measuring methods. Participation was on a voluntary basis and the exercise was carried out on materials obtained from the OECD FORCE programme. The test programme was separated into two parts: (1) Mix design: Comparison of different mix design methods implemented with imposed performance requirements and base components; and (2) Repeated Load Tests: Measurement of complex modulus and fatigue properties of a bituminous material by using different testing devices. The experience started in 1992 with 23 laboratories distributed experience started in 1992 with 23 laboratories distributed over 14 countries. The final results were collected and interpreted by the authors in 1993. This paper summarizes the main conclusions derived after data analysis and further discussions of the summary report with the partners. (A).
