Abstract

The polycentric greater Stuttgart area faces severe traffic problems due to the rapid economic development. Without new and innovative measures, mobility in the area will suffer. The mobility project MOBILIST is a public-private partnership of 44 public and private partners. Funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research, MOBILIST has developed a three-pronged overall approach to achieve sustained mobility with less traffic. Mobility Services are the basis of the "Convenient Mobility" approach, operational optimisation support the "Intelligent Mobility" approach and traffic reduction will be attempted using modern data communication systems giving the "Mobility with less Traffic" approach of MOBILIST a powerful base. The paper describes MOBILIST and deals in more detail with mobility-related services that are part of all three approaches. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
