Abstract

The identification of future mobility developments is of vital importance for traffic planning, whether to enable appropriate traffic facilities to be made available or undesirable trends to be counteracted. In general, mobility is stated in terms of number of journeys /person and day, duration and distance per person of daily journey. In the example of the central Salzburg area it is shown that, above all as a result of the shortening of the working day and improvements in mode availability, the number of journeys made will increase by 9% between 1982 and 2000.
