Abstract

On request of the Rijksplanologische Dienst (National Physical Planning Agency) the Bureau Goudappel Coffeng (BGC) has investigated differences in mobility between double income families and other families. These differences were traced in time budget research and travel diary research. The most important outcomes of this research can be stated as follows: (1) being doubly constrained, double income families live two miles further away from the household head's work location; and (2) in the long run double income families try to reduce the distance between household and work location.
