Abstract

Since the early 1970's the government has pursued a policy, which stimulates local authorities to improve traffic livability in residential areas. An important instrument of this policy is the separation of traffic zones, in which through traffic has priority, and living zones. These living zones are mainly constructed as "woonerven" or declared 30 kmph residential zones. This contribution gives insight into this policy progamme and its results on basis of an evaluation research.
