Abstract

The concept of a private market for traffic information was developed parallel to the STORM project and is now acknowledged in Germany. A state-wide MOBility Information Network, MOBIN, is described, that is intended to be introduced into the market. MOBIN is to provide open access to traffic data and traffic information for pre-trip and on-trip, for any traffic mode, for any operator or service provider, available in any region, installed and operated by commercial businesses or public-private partnerships. MOBIN user groups and basic services are defined. The MOBIN System Architecture, the MOBIN Concept of Services, and the background for and experiences with public-private partnership are highlighted. A consortium will found a MOBIN company to start the traffic information market in Germany.
