Abstract

Achieving sustainable mobility in the big agglomerations is one of the most important objectives in transport policies. Telematics offers a variety of new applications to improve traveller information and traffic control. However, apart from technology development, strategies for traffic control need to be agreed to by all players in this field. This includes identification of areas for co-operation as well as the definition of a jurisdictional framework in which the interests of public authorities are considered as well as those of the private industries.
