Abstract

This paper describes the unmet travel needs of the transportation disadvantaged, numbering 70 and 100 million persons in the U.S.A. because of income or capacity. The inadequacy of conventional transit for elderly, the handicapped and inner city residents centers on lack of neighbourhood safety and inconvenience.
