Abstract

Modal split and its possible influencing are fundamentally important for the planning of traffic infrastructure, in particular in conurbations. In traffic planning over recent decades there has been a generally recognized trend showing a shift in modal split in favour of motorized traffic. Modal split investigations and international comparative studies show that it is possible to control this trend within a certain framework.
