Abstract

Based on several Dutch surveys some general tendencies in the modal-split are given. Relations between modal split and size of the shopping facilities, number of inhabitants and level of urbanization are dealt with. Pedestrian trips seems to be quite stable in time, late shopping evenings are frequently visited by car drivers, residents often use their bicycle for shopping trips and public transport only plays a role in the major centres.
