Abstract

A comparison is made of the accident rates connected with several modes of transport including certain types of motor vehicle, railroad, and air transport. Using a newly devised graphical technique the meaning of otherwise baffling statistics is clarified, and historical trends are identified. Finally, from statistics compiled over a more than 30-years period, an attempt is made to predict future transport tendencies.
