Abstract

RAND Europe is carrying out a project into the choice of timing of travel, together with Veldkamp and Mark Bradley Research and Consulting for the Transport Research Centre (AVV) of the Dutch Ministry of Transport. The objective of the project is to estimate a new time of day model that will replace the present time of day component in the Dutch National Model System (LMS), which predicts car drivers' responses to changing travel times (e.g. from congestion) or to the imposition of time-dependent road user charging. The model will also be extended to cover public transport users.
