Abstract
Two mathematical models, the Hall & Mulinazzie model from 1978 and the Labadie & Barbaresso model from 1982 were studied for their use in accident risk models on hard shoulders. This cover note discusses the study on these models and concludes a more systematic approach of the roadside problems, which connects more at the current development in the detection of dangerous locations.
