Abstract

Modelling of personal travel and traffic information in non-recurrent traffic conditions. In this paper a research proposal is defined to determine the effects of personal traffic and travel information for non-recurrent traffic conditions. As a foundation of this research proposal a literature study was undertaken into for subjects: reliability of trafficnetworks, Intelligent Transport Systems and Advanced Traveler Information Systems, road users and the effects of information. The literature study showed a few gaps in the existing knowledge of traffic and travel information. A few new trends also give new lines of research. The research is filled in with, amongst others, focus groups and surveys to identify the user needs for information and the factors that are important with route choices under non-recurrent traffic conditions. With the use of a microsimulation and a route choice model, the effects of information will be depicted. (Author/publisher)
