Abstract

This paper considers the data demands for ITS applications used by TfL, and how this demand can be met using WLAN-enabled file transfers. It provides: an analysis of AP deployment densities for WLAN access points to meet specified QoS figures; and overview recommendations for deployment and control strategies for bandwidth-hungry CCTV applications. Data demand analysis is based on statistical distribution models, populated with the resultsof file transfer demand surveys compiled from sources in TfL and London bus operators. ITS data considered includes: vehicle operational data; vehicle location logs; CCTV footage downloads; and bus-mounted traffic enforcement camera footage. For the covering abstract see E134653.
