Abstract

Despite the widespread adoption of flexible work hours, there has been limited modelling of work schedule choice, an essential element in any comparison of flex-time with other transportation management tactics. Utility theory is used to develop a conceptual structure for work schedule choice Avith flex-time. A beta probability density is used to model the distribution of work arrivals. The structure is empirically tested using data from the San Francisco Bay Area.
