Abstract
In order to achieve immediate fuel savings in automobile traffic there is a need for measures that are applicable to the existing vehicle population. This report deals with the effects on automobile fuel economy of technical measures, of changes in driving habits and of reduced driving speeds. Earlier studies in the area of fuel saving are surveyed and the results of practical measurements of fuel consumption performed at VTI on one vehicle are presented. The potential fuel savings effects of these measures are estimated.
