This recommendation describes how to make an inventory of social organisations in The Netherlands that are directly or indirectly involved in road safety and related areas. The principles adopted in this regard were to obtain an insight into: (1) the means by which, and on the basis of which criteria, these organisations were subsidised by one or several Dutch government departments; (2) which target group the organisation activities were directed at; (3) the role road safety plays in this regard; and (4) into what points of contact as regards content can be identified. Based on the material available, however, it proved impossible to draw up a comprehensive nationwide overview of the subsidised subsidised social base of support for the approach to road hazards.
