Abstract

The regulations allow for lorry drivers relatively long working periods. The actual work performed by many tanker drivers takes considerably longer. Working time records are manipulated. Inspection authorities are deceived. The pressure put on drivers by their employers is great. Overfatigue results in accidents. New permits (tanker driving licence) and responsibilities (dangerous goods superviser) should be introduced for more efficient sanctions.
