Abstract
The avoidance of accidents can be not only a reaction, but also the result of measures taken following accidents and of accident evaluations. Accident avoidance must have the long term aim, acting both in a preventative and in an active fashion, to identify accident causes and obviate accidents by advanced measures. For freight traffic vehicles a program is set up based on 1) operational training, 2) the integrated traffic clarification and 3) technical improvements of vehicles.
