Abstract

In October 2001, the Task Force on Monitoring Novice Driver Licensing Initiatives (MNDLI) annual survey was distributed to the jurisdictions in preparation for the final annual monitoring report of the Task Force mandate. The intent of this final report is to report data on novice drivers and to update the report on initiatives currently being developed, introduced or amended. The number of data elements for this report have been reduced and amended to reflect the targets identified by both Transport Canada and the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA). For example, “serious injuries” related to novice / young driver collision involvement (not “injuries”) have been tracked in order to reflect the performance indicators established as part of Vision 2010 targets. Subsequent to the publication of this final report, future novice driver documentation will be reported through the High-Risk Driver (HRD) Task Force of the CCMTA Standing Committee on Road Safety Research and Policies (RSRP).
