Abstract

This paper presents a study on the attitudinal and character factors affecting motivation of public transport drivers in Romania in urban conditions. Vehicles included tram, trolley bus and bus. Personality factors were evaluated using the California Psychological Inventory and computer processed. The dominant motivation was determined by the Personality Motivational Structure questionnaire, a list of satisfaction factors. The study of the correlation between psychological test results referring to the cognitive processes and professional performance criteria revealed a weak relationship. Motivation is shown to have a strong influence on professional success. There were significant correlations between personality factors and motivation factors.
