Abstract

In February and March of 1979 the National Roads and Motorists Association (N.R.M.A.) carried out a survey on the attitude of motorists and motorcyclists to compulsory use of headlights on motorcycles during daylight hours. Two distinct groups of opinion were evident. Those who did not ride a motorcycle strongly favoured the compulsory use of motorcycle headlights in daytime whereas those who rode motorcycles were opposed to compulsory lights though they supported the voluntary use of lights during daylight hours.
