Abstract

Road transport satisfies the major part of the Community's transport needs but accounts for only 13% of the total energy consumption of this 9% is patrol used mainly for care end 4% is diesel used primarily by commercial vehicles. Road transport attacks particular attention in the energy debate because it is steadily growing in social and economic importance and is one of the few factors which will remain dependent on oil for many years to come.
