Abstract

A study was, in the most general sense, designed to assess owner /driver maintenance practices. . The major purposes were to determine 1) the motivations and 2) the resultant behaviours of various classes of motor vehicle owners in preserving the safety integrity of their vehicles, and 3) the various processes used to accomplish vehicle maintenance. The method by which the owner /driver determines the necessity for maintenance, the performing agent and the frequency with which specific safety-item is either checked or maintained is also determined.
