Abstract
This report reviews the state-of-the-art in motor vehicle rear vision presents data on the location an duration of eye fixations for obtaining rearward information; analyzes and discusses rear field of view and rear view display location; recommends techniques for describing motor vehicle rear view performance; discusses the safety standards problem, and concludes with a proposed safety standard. A bibliography and some abstracts on the subject are included.
