Abstract

The results of this survey reveal further gains in compliance with compulsory seatbelt wearing legislation in the front seats (driver 95.9%, front left passenger 92.1%). Wearing rates in provincial cities and on short local trips were not significantly lower than those for peak hour metropolitan trips. However, wearing rates in rear seats have not been maintained at levels found previously. These rates are now in the order of 58%.
