Abstract

Traffic accidents have many related components. By analysing statistics from accident investigations, accident causes rates and types are correlated with highway design vehicle following, distance, interchanges, mechanical failure, and time of day.Factors found to have little or no bearing on accidents are speed, traffic law, enforcement and driver restrictions. On most cases, the driver is the cause of an accident.
