Abstract

Part I of this report describes the general scene of motor- cycle accidents in the Ottawa area with information about the circumstances of the accident as obtained from police information. 363 motorcycle accidents were studied. Part II is concerned with hospital reports for 351 persons injured in accidents involving a motorcycle, six of whom suffered fatal injuries, and 345 of whom survived. Part. III reports on the interviewing and comparing of 50 motorcycle accident victims with a control group of non-accident drivers. The role of driving experience and school records were discussed and suggestions made to further decrease motorcycle accidents from the point of view of the motorcyclist himself.
