Abstract

The current state of knowledge regarding the relationship between motorcycle engine size /power and collision involvement is examined. There were three main objectives (1)to identify and review post- 1984 literature on the nature, magnitude and characteristics of the relationship between motorcycle engine size /power and collision involvement (2) to examine and critique studies that have evaluated the effect of engine size /power restrictions on collisions, and (3) to consider the safety implications of contemporary findings on this relationship in terms of alternative countermeasure options.
