Abstract

The number of motorcycles in the U.S. is continuing to rise sharply. Deaths of motorcycle riders increased 1% in 1974 over 1973. The exact reason for this is not known, but it has been suggested that varying enforcement of helmet laws and changes in the laws, and lack of helmet legislation in some states, has had an unfavourable effect.
