Vision is necessary byte not by itself, sufficient for safe driving of a motor vehicles. Seeing attributes, and legal and economic considerations involved suggest that the minimum vision examination for a license to drive should include tests for acuity of vision and visual field. Acuity and fields change with deterioration of vision, are concerned with seeing and reading of signs- an activity closely related to safe, rapid driving- and serve as usefulscreening indicators of seeing deficiency. A Snellen acuity or better appear to be of 20/40 and a visual field of 130 reasonable levels for visual referral and appraisal. Retesting of accident repeaters should be required. A review of the information on a changes in vision suggests that an appropriate time to retest the vision of auto driver would be between the ages of fifty and fifty-five.
