Abstract

Analysis have been carried out to assess the accident problem in fogs and in darkness on the main motorways in Great Britain over the period 1969-1971; about 80 percent of all accidents in the motorway network have been covered and the various lengths have been broken down to make comparison between different locations. Details of the numbers of accidents and casualties were tabulated separately for each area in order that figures could be combined to cover various lengths of motorway.
